Sponsorships for the
permanently retired horses are available. If you are interested in
participating in our sponsorship program or in donating to help
support these animals, please contact us for more information.
Some of the horses on
this page suffered from neglect, absentee ownership, poor nutrition
and a general lack of understanding a horse's needs.
We hope that if you are
a novice horse owner or are thinking of purchasing your first horse,
that you take time to read and educate yourself on the needs of
equine.
Although horses are
large and powerful, they are also balanced on the edge of wellness.
It only takes a couple of days without proper water consuption to
create problems that could potentially kill a horse. It only takes a
couple of days of improper feeding to put a horse at risk. It only
takes a mineral imbalance to create behavior problems. And, it only
takes a poor fitting saddle to make a horse unridable.
Educate yourself before
you leap and that leap will be rewarding!

Dajamakadeal- aka D.J.

A rejected race horse because of leg injuries and hoof problems, DJ's
previous owner purchased him at a "killer" auction in 2002. His
owner and him had conflicting personalities and did not get
along. When Michele first saw DJ, he was thin, had rope burns around
his neck, cuts on his eyes and was getting eaten up by flies. He did
not trust anyone. Even thought it was love at first sight for
Michele, it took several months for DJ to regain his trust in
humans. Today DJ is a wonderful horse and he loves to give kisses.
Through Michele's loving care, he regained his trust and confidence.

Monique

A 30 year "young" retired broodmare,
Monique was a well cared for mare that provided her previous
family with many beautiful foals. Suffering from a chronic eye
problem, it was decided to remove her eye many years ago -- but
that has never slowed her down. Monique has been part of our
family since 2003.
Jack

Jack is a BLM Mustang that was
gelded at a late age and never broke to ride. He was estimated to
be 10 when his previous owner purchased him from the BLM..He was
left to
pasture and had little done with him.
Michele bought him about 3 years later as a companion horse for
DJ. True to his origins, Jack is a very independent horse
and takes care of the other horses. He is the alpha horse but lets
DJ think he is. We always know when a horse is not feeling
well because Jack will not
leave their side. He also loves to play with the younger geldings.
JJ

JJ is a 3 year old
blue roan gelding. He
received an
eye injury and as a result is partially blind in one eye.
He is a very special horse with a
sweet disposition. He loves
to play with Jack and Scout.
Snowball

Snowball is a 2 1/2 year old Paint
filly. Neglected and receiving improper nutrition, she was
covered in rain rot when Michele brought her to the farm.
Molly

Michele came to know Molly at the
same farm that Monique came from. She was sold in-foal to what was
to become her retirement home. However, she was returned the next
spring in poor condition. Not fed or cared for properly, she
absorbed the baby. By the time she was brought back, she was
emaciated and covered in lice and rain rot. Michele purchased
Molly from the neglectful owner in 2005 and returned her to good
health. Molly now lives with the retirement herd.
Scout

Scout
came here in 2005. He was
sold by a breeder as a stallion. Suffering from a neglected
chronic eye
infection in one eye, it soon spread to the other eye. By the time
Michele got him he was blind in both
eyes. Scout is a
wonderful horse. He is now about 3 1/2 years old and has not
been broke to ride.
Beatrice

Bea is a retired broodmare. She is
about 20 years of age.
Mitilda

Mitilda is an 18 year old broodmare
that came here to retire.
